worm2872 635 Posted October 23, 2012 As I sit here waiting for Aetna to review my case, I think back on what it was like when I was thinner and the things I miss doing. Oh, there are a lot of them amusement parks, horseback riding, etc. But what I really miss is being able to DANCE. I can still move but it is hard to fling around 270 pounds. My one goal is to be able to use point shoes again even if I am 40! lol What about you? What do you miss doing that you hope to be able to again or what is it like to be able to do the things you were missing out on? Thoughts?
BBdoodle 483 Posted October 23, 2012 I love to buy clothes and when I was average weight it was so nice to just walk in a store pick a size 8 pants and not even have to try them on and know they will fit. I can't wait until I'm there again !! There is two things that I miss a tiny, tiny bit from pre-op days that I hate to admit .... I miss my diet lime pepsi and a smoke !! The trade off is much better, I can now run again and I am so much more healither . 1 worm2872 reacted to this
Wanda Bragg 8 Posted October 28, 2012 What I miss is being able to play sports and also being able to go shopping at the local store for clothes. It sucks wanting/needing new clothes but cant just go get them because I cant find them to fit. Plus to being smaller is the clothes wont cost as much!! Wanda Bragg 8 Posted October 28, 2012 That's true plus size is more expensive. Yes it does, its bad enough buying scrubs that cost $30 for just a top but add on extra for plus and wow its a lot. Plus no good designs or things like that for the plus people. Its been said many times that America is the "bigest" country in the world with the most big people in it but you could not tell my our stores thats for sure. You would think that a country that has as many big people as ours does in it that there would be a lot of good looking clothes for our sizes but nope that is not the case. Expat 27 Posted October 28, 2012 I was never thin so I dont have anything to miss. Things I dont miss is the pain in my knees and back, hard time sleeping, running out of breath after 1 flight of steeps, eating like a hog and beeing obssed with when my next feeding would be, feeling tired all the time, not beeing able to fit in the clothing I just got a few months ago, feeling and being he biggest person in the room and a host of other things that I dont miss. Im enjoying a new life.
LA GP 117 Posted October 29, 2012 The thing that bothers me with weight is airline travel. Im to the point of barely fitting in the seat and getting a seatbelt on. I PRAY nobody has to sit with me. Once I was put in a seat beside a guy who was actually bigger (ironically from my same office), and it was actually comical because it was so bad! We both agreed to compare our tickets in the future and adjust!
