So only my boss knows I had surgery because we are very close, and she is very good at keeping me sane. But anywho, since I'm ten weeks post op I've lost 50 pounds... I look a lot different and people are wondering what I've been doing. I say diet and excersiize which is true. People were talking behind my back saying that I'm gonna get sick since I'm losing so fast or if I on drugs?? Lol

I agree with JustJenn....there will be talk but as long as you are health and happy that's all that matters :)

I haven't had surgery yet but I am a little scared as to how those I work with will take the news. I have been going back and forth on if I should tell them. My boss knows and one good friend/co-worker knows but no one else at work. I know that it shouldn't matter what they think but I have worked closely with all of them for 8 years now.

Keep up the good work....and you look great :D

It's amazing how people will talk. So in my COMING TO AMERICA VOICE, I say, LET THEM TALK! You must be doing something right, remember you hate to think people are jealous but there are people out there lurking, trying to destroy people. Continue doing you, stay focused! Hey just think of it this way, in due time you will give them plenty more weightloss to look at real soon :). Lol

At what point will you tell them? Before I had the surgery I did not want to tell people and even a month after. I think I was scared if failing or people calling me out of things, but after I did tell people I was amazed at how many people were also think about having the surgery and I was able to provide help and support.

I'm wondering the same thing, whether I should tell people at work. I havent been there long, and I'm only on a fixed term contract so will only be there until Feb 2014...

I've told my boss, and the one other person i trust there... I dunno if I want them to know, ya know?

Same here. I have struggled with my weight all my life. I have had the band placed, where I lost weight and regained it and was unable to lose again. I struggled with exercise programs and weightloss programs. When I spoke with my surgeon about making the revision, he was up front and honest with me about how the band had failed so many. He is a super busy man doing approx 6-8 Rny surgery's alone weekly. But still takes the time to explain and be there for his patients! If I could have screamed off the mountain tops about my surgery I would have. I had my surgery on the 18th and have no regrets. My husband is obsessed with food, and I didn't realize how bad until this surgery. It's definately something to be proud of accomplishing since so many don't have the nerve to even consider it! I was up front with people. Basically told them it was my body, it was my life, if they had anything negative to say about my embark, don't bother wasting the extra breath. Lol..... After losing my dad and his sister to cancer in 2010, I was all about being there for everyone but me. I told my PA earlier this year, this was my year and I will do all I can to feel better about me! This was my first big step......

I told my boss, and a few close friends at work. When people comment about my weight loss and say wow you look good or are you losing weight and how... I say diet and exercise. Its no lie because I am watching what I eat and I do exercise like hell every day. I feel its VERY personal what your medical choices are and its no one's business unless you make them your business. I got 110% support from my co-workers and they are such great cheerleaders too :) But then again I work with a fantastic group of people.

Go Anna, I understand what you mean about taking care of others and not focusing on your health. That's me too. I have 4 girls and I thought they would not want me to have it, but when I told them they were So excited. I was happy cause I need their support. O their ages are 21, 20, 17, and 15...that should show you how open minded those groups are. I love them! Now I do have a 12 yr old boy who seemed a little worried, so I just have to be careful of how I share if I'm not feeling well cause he don't like me to be sick. I'm trying to be the best me for all of us.

Like you I think deep down I don't want to fail again. My co-workers have seen me start things and never finish....at least things in my personal life. I really want to be able to start and finish something really powerful in my life. The few that I have told are supportive and I do believe my co-corkers will be supportive too but I want to get to the point where I have my date and then fill people in. After all I will be gone from work for a while and even when I'm gone for one day they notice. I think I really want to wait until I can handle all the questions that they will ask and be confident in my decision.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
