Wls is a epidemic at my job, lol. I told my entire team and they had a carry in for me a few days before my surgery and gave me a gift card. They were happy to Celebrate my new life. It's the norm at my job.

I only told certain people. However, it did spread to a FEW outsiders. But all the response has been very positive. However, everyone here pretty much knows not to come to me with negativity, because it will be addressed IMMEDIATELY. lol. As a matter of fact, a lady asked me yesterday what I had been doing. I went ahead and told her. She had been thinking of having WLS, TOO.

I'm an open book and I am afraid of failing.... I answer people honestly and a couple of co-workers stated that they were worried but now see that even with only a 30 pound lose at this point that I am happier and feeling better! I've been surprised that the people that are considering surgery... no regrets!

I made the choice to tell my coworkers from the beginning. While i was going to my appointments i talked about the process and i think that helped. Some warned me that they knew people that had problems with it or it's too dangerous but i told them it was my choice. I work as a cna in a nursing home i only told the girls on my floor the big bosses and a few in the kitchen. yesterday people from the other floors were asking me how i was doing and how much I've lost. The word has spread through the building lol. But I'm ok with that it's a big support for me. I have had no complications so far and I'm doing great so the people that had doubt are now congratulating me!

Yeah if you aren't going to tell people.... They will just talk! But keep doing what your doing and let them talk about losing and how fabulous you look! :)

People will talk regardless. Lol

I talked about having surgery at work a lot even found out 3 other people I work with have had it done and kept off the weight. Looking at them I would of never guessed they had RNY. I can't wait to have all my weight off and have more energy.

How cool about hose co-workers, now they can probably be of some assistants to you along the way. I agree on the cant wait to have the weight OFF, weight OFF, just has a ring to it. Lol

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
