Almost 2 weeks since surgery.

Recommended Posts

Wow! I cant believe it has already been almost 2 weeks. It has been really easy so far. No gas pain, no real pain from surgery at all. I have lost about 35lbs since the preop diet that started on January 10th. Im going to list a typical day of my foods. Please give me your opinions below on whether or not it is similar to what you can eat or if its more or less,or if Im eating the right types of meals and Snacks. Any input would be awesome.

Breakfast. Protein shake

Mid Morning - sugar free Yogurt or a scrambled egg

lunch 1/2 can or so of soup(usually campbells chunky type)

Mid Afternoon - small cup applesauce

dinner More Soup or turkey chili

snack sugar free pudding cup(occasional)

50-64oz of Water per day.

Your opinions would be appreicated!

Aren't you and I lucky to be in the "hardly any pain" club of bandsters?

I still eat llots of Soup at six months. My doctor sort of frowned and wants me to eat more stick to the ribs food. I love my soup though!

I feel like at 2 weeks out you are making great choices. I was eating about 2 sf popsicles a day too (40 calories). My favorite is banana still.

Keep up the good work.

Remember help your band with exercise . I waited 1 week to start walking slowly. I still never exercise fast .

So glad to hear about your recent success and relatively problem-free recovery. It's very encouraging for those of us who haven't gone under the knife yet.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
