I haven't had surgery yet but my lil booklet says I start puree diet the second day after surgery ans it just said to blend up regular food. Its says for meats to blend them with a lil broth or the liquid they cooked in and also with veggies. Fruits to just blend by themselves and if needed add a little Water.< /p>

Fat free Cottage cheese

Fat free yogurt & greek yogurt

Scrambled eggs

Tilapia fillet pureed with light mayo or fat free tartar sauce

I didn't tolerate beef

Ruthie...the best puréed food I ate, and once I did, it was all I wanted...was puréed Boars Head oven-gold turkey breast, a few spoon fills of broth and acon squash sprinkled with cinnimon that had been baked in the oven! It was soooo good!!!

can you not just eat baby food and make sure that there is no sugar and carbs in it maybe like the organic types or maybe the brands at Whole Foods or Central Market have no sugar added and no carbs.... I didn't know if I should buy a baby puree Machine for 50 bucks for my puree Stage I thought about it.... then you can just puree anything

Yes, pretty sure baby food is fine, well at least my doc & nut said it was ok...here's the thing: have you ever eaten a baby food meat product..?? It has the nastiest consistency and taste =\ BLECH!

My doc said no baby food. He says it fill of fillers and sugar and little nutrients cuz it job is to make babies gain weight. Maybe the ones at whole food are better. I'm just going to puree the Protein and veggie that I cook for my husbands meal. I have a pretty good blender so it will do. Only on that stage for 2 weeks.

Watch out for fat free products...they often have higher sugars/carbs. My doc put emphasis on the carb count, not so much on the fat count- and he doesn't allow any fruit- due to the sugar count:(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
