st.ephanie 16 Posted October 18, 2012 Can anyone give some insight on how long it takes for stomach swelling to go down? I'm having a feeling it's 6 weeks or so... I'm 2 weeks out today, have lost 17 pounds, and I feel like most of the swelling has gone down-- from looking in the mirror. However, when I put on jeans I wore comfortably before surgery, I'm about an inch and a half to two inches from Ipping/buttoning my jeans. I'm super happy with my weight loss and I know this is temporary- I just want to have appropriate expectations..,

st.ephanie 16 Posted October 18, 2012 I definitely don't want to wear them much but with chillier weather, I was in the mood for jeans and a sweatshirt.. Oh well, this part will be very short!

st.ephanie 16 Posted October 18, 2012 Slowtogo I actually took a big rubber band, threaded it into the button hole and around the button, then put my binder over it lol. With a sweatshirt on, it looked like I just had a long shirt underneath and it worked
st.ephanie 16 Posted October 18, 2012 Amanda, I didn't have my first bowel movement for almost a week too. I called my surgeons office and they said I could take a non stimulant stool softener. I still take 1 a day just to keep me comfortable. This is embarrassing to talk about but it would not be a bad idea to purchase an enema for the first one or two. Everyone is different, but I dealt with a LOT of pain for my first two, and wished I had bought one. Once I got the "back up" out, I felt 100 x better and am more normal now. I definitely recommend calling your doc or getting on a stool softener ASAP. You could get into a lot of pain and trouble. Also, walking helps a lot too. The weight will come off!!! Less is Best! 12 Posted October 18, 2012 I didn't have a bowl movement for almost two weeks and now only every two to three days. The swelling for me being 3 weeks post is just now going down. I started in 24s and now wear 18s comfortably. I still have pain after eating or drinking but not as bad. Currently working out on a treadmill while in hotel with bf working out of town. Its getting easier. I had lost 29 lbs before coming to Indiana, no scales now so not sure what i have lost but i do 4 miles a day so i know i have lost more.
