So I've been complaining that I haven't lost enough weight. Before my journey I was in a size 20. Today I went clothes shopping and I fit in size 16 jeans and size 14 slacks!!! Wow! I was shocked

Stay off the scale 1 time a week.

If you check every day you will be disappointed Becuse the scale didn't move then you will cut back on your eating put your body into starvation mode and still won't lose weight.

I know I have done this and my doctor reamed my but about it ,when I get my calories up around 800 the weight comes off faster. Just Becuse you don't see the scale move does not mean your body is not changing as you just found out.

We all want it to come off fast and be skinny next week and it will come off in time. To bad it won't come off as fast as we can put it on

.your doing fine keep it up I bet you like the new you. Becuse I like the new Me

To be completely honest, it's been great not many struggles I am able to say that I am 100% happy w/ my decision. At first I was bummed that the weight came off slow, but when I tried clothes on, I realized the inches were falling off. At first I was sad I couldn't eat the foods I love, but now I could care less because I don't miss the weight. My confidence has become so much better, and the compliments put me on cloud 9, it's the best thing I have ever done. (Besides birthing my children) follow your heart, and u will do great. Oh And I have never once dumped

Hi I had gastric bypass surgery 9/10/12 to be honest the 1st few days were very painful for me I cannot tolerate pain very well but as soon as it was controlled I felt alot better. Then one of my incisions became infected its not common but can happen that has been very painful and I'm still healing and continue to take pain meds for that. Now that I'm 5 weeks post op I'm thankfully starting to feel alot better I'm able to exercise a bit more and do my daily activities :) Goodluck on what u decide to do whats best for u and after all that I've been through so far I do not regret my decision ;)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
