Soda, was almost a game changer for me! Now its gum, but I've made a deal and can have half pieces, being a habitual gum chewer at work would do me in! Big changes! New beginnings!

From what I was told coffee is acidic not good for your pouch and CAN but not always cause ulcers. But you can drink regular coffee 8 oz at a time 1 time a day wan then flush with Water the rest of the day and you will be fine.

THAT was what my doctor told me. And every doctor says some thing different.

I love French vanilla Creamer I can not give up.

But 60 calories a day in 8oz of coffee. Hope it does not kill me. That's my only cheat and will be my only cheat. Soda gone for ever candy gone all the bad stuff gone.

I don't cheat Becuse I'm afraid of going back to being fat and I love the way I'm starting to look.

I was wondering the same thing... Why can't we have gum?? I miss coffee i want to try some so bad but i don't want ulcers my mother had gastric bypass when i was in high school over 14 years ago and she had ulcers she never knew why but I'm sure it's the coffee and the cigarettes. That scares me away from the coffee. I do miss it though!

You can't have gum in the off chance you swallow it. It clogs the pouch and causes awful complications

Cold. Beer... I love kicking back with beer... Friday nights around the neighborhood bonfire, watching football, tailgating before games and shows, chilling with family and friends. Yup, I will miss beer.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
