Red Rash Around Incisions.

Recommended Posts

So I've had a red rash around my incisions for about a week. Wed I'll be 3 Weeks post op. I wasn't worried because it was light pink and itchy and no Puss or oozzing so i waited till i was at my Dr today and showed them. She said its an allergic reaction to something either the stitching or the medicine they put in them during the surgery. She said its nothing they treat and it will go away on its own before 6Weeks. Its not on all six maybe 3or 4 of them. I read a few comments similar to this over the weekend and just thought I'd share in case anyone else comes across the same thing.

Same thing here.and told the same thing. I'm 5 weeks out Abd now some of the corner are oozing puss. So I just clean them and let the airdry them. I'm sure I need some kEflex so I will go see my pcp this week if it does get better. Ugh

Ozzing Puss doesn't sound good. Does it have an oder? That would be a sign of infection. I would call the Dr tomorrow........ Mine have almost cleared up completely. The rash is almost all gone no more itching for the past few days and they look like they are heeling very well. I'm 3 and a half Weeks post op!!

Just had gastric bypass, and after got home, just started itching, getting itchy feeling all time,,went to see Dr. Was told I had a delayed allergic reaction from liquid they put on, gave a prescription, now Iam continuing to itch after taking 6 doses of the medicine. sounds like steroid pills, praying it will get better soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
