I had Anthem BCBS and they were awesome, no hoops to jump and no strings. I am so happy with my insurance company and they made that leg of my journey a breeze. I hope you have good luck with your company!

I too had anthem BCBS and I was approved on Friday. The approval process took about three weeks and they did ask for some more paperwork in the middle. But really I think it went very well. And if all the info from all my docs had been sent in the first time it would have been even faster.

So hopefully tomorrow I will get a surgery date

I have had my lap band for seven years and revising to the RNY.

I have no horror stories about my lap band it just didn't help me lose all the weight I needed and even when

losing weight the diabetes and asthma did not improve. I am kinda putting all my eggs in the RNY basket and

hoping I am one of the 80% that the RNY drastically changes the diabetes.

Wishing you the very best.

I had Gastric Bypass....everything has been Bette than I hoped. I have gotten sick a few times with different foods but the doc said that is normal. Other than that my process had been smooth.

I went to my first seminar in May 2012, I was done with the process and approved by my doc and insurance by July but had to put off surgery due to work. I had my surgery September 25, I starred at 364lbs and I am down to 300. I lost 40lbs before surgery and have lost 24 after. Mine was not a revision, I havent had any other weight loss surgery besides the bypass. I am sure you will do great, just stick to the diet and try not to get upset if something makes you sick.....I got upset the first time because I was doing everything right, my doc was awesome though telling me how our body is adjusting and that it might not like something right away but to try again later.

Wow jen congrats ! That is truely amazing ! I had the lap band and would get sick with that so I do get upset about that stuff. I want this so bad that I dont think about pain or anything negative all I am worried about is my insurance approval . I am at that point in my life where I have been heavy for 23 years I just want to enjoy life fit and more healthy I have three kids to chase and I want to do it without my knee and back hurting!

I know what you mean about wanting to be thin and healthy. I dont have any kids, that's the main reason I decided to do this because I have a disorder called PCOS and it led to my weight gain and infertility issues. This surgery is supposed to help if not correct it. So I hope in a few years I will be running around chasing my kiddos. You will do great I'm sure, you already know mostly what to expect, about won't be a total shock. How long before you know about insurance approval?

Hey Vicki I too had the Lapband and it went well at first but in the long run it was not what I expected.

Glad I had the revision so far though.

I had my band in September 9, 2008. I lost 74 pounds in three years ( it literally took that long)then I had foot surgery and was laid up for 3 months and gained 30 pounds back. After then I began to have acid reflux problems among other things. I eventually realized that it was time to look into a revision, and I was so thankful that my insurance approved it.

I had my revision surgery on October 10, 2012

I was 230 before shrink your liver diet then, I was 219, then when I came home after surgery because I was swollen I was 223, and now I am 214. I can deal with losing 9 pounds in 6 days :). When I had the band it took forever to lose that.

Surgery date October 10, 2012

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
