What's the ettiquette?

Recommended Posts

I received three deliveries of 'get well' flowers from different teams at work. What is the ettitquette for me saying Thank You? Do I send one card to each team (they're in different states!), or can I send an email to them? Can it wait until I return to the office in another week, or do I do it from home??

Myself, I think emails are to impersonal...I think I'd prefer to get a Thank You note in the mail. It just has more personal touch to it. If thats the way you choose to go, then get them in the mail as soon as you are feeling up to it. Definately send a card to each of them, just in case one doesnt relay the sentiments to the others.

But thats just my thoughts on it.

BTW....congratulations on your surgery!!

I don't think it's imporant what we do to acknowledge someone, but that we do do someting. The emails seem fine with me.

I would send a card to each team with a personal note thanking them.

Unfortunately, I think it does matter in some cases. I think an email would be fine if the flowers came from a friend or family member, but since they came from a work setting, I would go the more formal route and send cards.

Personally, my opinion, if someone takes the thought and time to send you flowers I think a hand written note is more appropriate. In fact, I would do both, send a quick email saying you got them and thank you then I would follow up with a note, one for each them.

The problem is that I work in the Corporate Hdqtrs, and this team is in Texas, California, and North Carolina. The other team, all in my home state - one handwritten will do them fine.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
