Hi, I am new. I started this journey on Sept. 6, when I went the the initial seminar. Since then, the only appointments I have been able to get from my surgical group is the initial consult with the PA, and the group session with the Nut. I will be done with my 6 months of supervised weight loss with my doctor by November 16th. I am wanting to get the surgery done this year, but it seems that the surgeons are dragging their feet. Any one else had this problem?

Thanks!

I am also new to this whole concept. my seminar is on the 16th this month. i'm hoping I can have everything go smoothly and get a date early 2013. since I have to wait for my short term disability to be active at work. I've heard diff things bout the supervised weight loss.. it seems like its depending on who the docs are that that part is required. best of luck with everything.

You should have other requirements such as ekg endoscopy pulmonary function test some require cardiologist clearance as well as psych evaluation. Each surgeon is different

I could not do anything until I finished my supervised weight loss, then everything went really fast.

I did my supervised weight loss with the surgeon not my pcp. Because I live an hour away so the test he wanted done he had me get my pcp to schedule and order them. Started in April and had last weigh in October 4th. Now just waiting for insurance approval

Well, I ditched the old surgeon and found a new one and have already got all my tests scheduled to be completed by Nov 15 which is when my last pcp weight management visit is!!! I am so thrilled!! The first set of surgeons hasn't yet contacted me to schedule anything!! I have already met my new surgeon and when I told him about the others, he said he has heard that before about them!! I really am excited now!! I was getting pretty down. Thanks for all your replies:)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
