Are Popcorn And Corn A No No?

Recommended Posts

Ive read somewhere of heard somewhere that we weren't supposed to eat popcorn, or corn. That it wasn't good for us to digest.. idk if this is correct or not. When I ate corn I had no problem. I also had popcorn and almost had an entire bag!! I was shocked. But I think its so small that basically its easy to eat and swallow. Maybe that's why it isn't recommended since popcorn isn't the healthiest snack. But I also didn't think it was the worst.

My surgeon has a no popcorn ever rule but check with yours it maybe okay if you tolerant it okay. My surgeon is fine with corn but no butter but in place a substitute like I can't believe its not butter.

My surgeon said NO CORN after surgery because you cannot digest. I am 6 months post op and have been eating corn for about the past month or so with no problem. I also had popcorn but I had a hard time getting it down and I was a bit uncomfortable, it just did not feel right going down. I'm not a big fan of popcorn anyway so no big loss.

After lap band seven years ago, it was no corn and no popcorn. Corn would actually get stuck and had to come back up. I choke real easy and have nearly died on popcorn so I don't eat it, although I love it. So I would be safer rather than sorry by avoiding corn and popcorn for all of us,

Just not worth the chance.

Ok thanks. Yeah I had no problem eating either but I knew I heard something about it. I probably will occasionly eat both.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
