Ok that's not bad. Do you think you needed to take more time off.

Hoping your Doc tells you to ease back into work. 12 hours sounds like an eternity when you on your feet and still healing. Good luck. And bless your heart for being a nurse. You are appreciated. And soon they are going to think you grew wings the way you will fly around that ER.

I went back to work a week after surgery but I work at a desk and worked 1/2 day in the office and 1/2 day at home so it was easy. But standing on your feet and working 12 hour shifts is tough even when you are not healing from surgery !!!! I think sometimes you have to ease yourself back into that type of schedule not just go from resting and recouping to a full blow work schedule. Take your time and heal.. Are you getting in your Protein ?

Yup getting all my Protein, I should of went back at 6 weeks now that I'm back to work and realizing how much mental and physical work I have to do I'm just not ready yet but it's to late have already started back. Will do the best I can to make it through I need the money to I am the only income in my house and had no short term disability. Just got my bill from the hospital have to pay 744 dollars for surgery and hospital stay, to my surprise without insurance it would of cost me close to 43000 thank you health benefits.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
