I really like Dr. Norwood. He is very conservative and takes a slower approach I think than some docs do but he is great.

Thanks for your response. I really liked him and his office staff. Have you had a fill yet? How was that??

Hey everyone...just found this group. I live in Farmerville and work in Monroe. I was banded April 1st by Dr Sartor. I'm going for my 3rd fill this afternoon at P&S.

I was talking to mamakatken in my earlier post. Sorry I am new at this! Also, does anyone use Cigna insurance? I was just wondering what to expect!

librarylady1.....I would definitely recommend him. He is very professional and I've had no problems at all with the surgery. I healed beautifully and my scars are pretty.

Everyone on his staff is friendly and helpful... the receptionist, personal trainer, NP's. When I call with a question everyone knows me by name...that really makes me feel good.

Rena his NP does the fills. She does them on Mon, Tues every week. And it's usually easy to get in. You don't have to make an appointment just call a few days in advance when you feel like you are eating too much or your weight loss has stopped. I've called on a Thursday and gotten in for Monday.

The first 90 days of fills are free. She does use xray to find the port (which is great, because she does it on the first stick everytime!!) and the cost for the xray is $100. It only took 3 fills over 2 months for me to get to my sweet spot.

You can PM me if you need any more info. I've got the diet plan and everything else if you want to look at it.

I go tomorrow for my first appt (of 6) for my monthly supervised diet. I really want a local doc, but I am not sure what my insurance is going to make me do! I am in Jena, so Monroe would be perfect for me! I am glad to have met a fellow library lady on here! I try to make it to the OPL a few times a year to see Mrs. Glo! She is the greatest!

Glad to find this North LA thread on this great website. I am a new bandster - July 8th - so I am learning sooo much from reading all the replies. Still on liquids another week, then on to the good stuff! I know this time is all about the healing, so I trying to keep my eye on the prize ahead of me! We need to get this thread going with some more bandsters from our area.

librarylady1 and heyliberrylady - I wonder if we are all in the same department at the local schoolhouse?

West Monroe here. I have been looking for others in this area for a while. Do you know of any support groups around here or do you ever get together to chat with each other about things?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
