A Different "butt" Issue

Recommended Posts

Oh my gosh!! My butt (tailbone)hurts all the time! I mean when I am sitting my behind is in constant pain these days. Heaven forbid I sit on the floor or other hard surface, because then it is way worse. Even on my soft couch or soft office chair my behind is just in pain. It aches and I think it is that I have lost my awesome soft built-in padding, but OUCH!!

Any idea if or when this will go away and I can stand sitting again. I have no choice but to sit and do my job etc, but wow I never thought I would prefer to stand over sitting.... To make it worse I am so lightheaded (massive headache and dizzy as well) the last couple days I do not want to stand either, what a situation Ha-Ha.

Of course even lying down is kinda an issue (but since I only lie down at bedtime it is not such a big deal) but when I lie on my side my bones hit the floor or bed and hurt the same as my tailbone. I want a bit of my fat back, and the sad thing is that I am not that thin in those areas yet, can you imagine what it will be like when I get to my goal. Oh my gosh!!!

Whining over... LOL :)

I am down 71 pounds only. This seems like such a silly thing to complain about but it does make things difficult and it is painful. But I just have not found anything to help it either. Pillows do not even seem to help.

You are losing all your padding which is a good thing. I once fell down cement steps and landed on my tail bone, it hurt like hell. When I had to sit at my desk I used a tube, it helped a lot. If you can get something with a hole in it you will not have that direct pressure.

I have the same issue and butt squeezes seem to help...about 10 morning and 10 evening. Have lost 40 before surgery...20 since surgery...two weeks ago. Same exercises work in the car and on airplane (also do ankle pumps) .

Hope that helps.

I have the same problem. It started when Iost about 40 pounds. I really can't sit for a long time. Luckily for me ( not really) I stand on my job my whole shift. The really horrible thing for me is, and sorry if it's gross, but I can literally FEEL my tailbone ewwww!!!!! My fiancé commented on how I squirm in my seat now. But I can't help it! It's super uncomfortable.

5 months out and still have the problem. I'll be sitting there and all of a sudden the pain shows up. No warning, it just hits me. I have to stand up for a while to get rid of it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
