anewre2012 20 Posted October 8, 2012 K today i finally broke down after 7 days of a liquid diet and had a half a piece of geilled chicken breast anyone else do this and had no problems for surgery with a non shrunk liver?
Jen in SoCal 189 Posted October 8, 2012 I don't really think a half a price of chicken will cause your liver not to shrink. DON'T STRESS! You're gonna do great! :-)
Jen in SoCal 189 Posted October 8, 2012 Half a piece of chicken.... Ugh darn spell check!
BBdoodle 483 Posted October 8, 2012 I would not worry about it... 1/2 piece of chicken is not going to do any harm !!
nmendi63 1 Posted October 8, 2012 trust me, it's not going to do anything. I was guilty of cheating a few times before my surgery :/ and i still lost about 12 pounds and they operated me and everything turned out fine. I know how you feel though i remember freaking out that they weren't going to operate me. You'll be fine and everything will turn out great! Don't worry!!! Ellie_Grace 271 Posted October 8, 2012 My doctor does not even do the liver shrink diet and said he only had to cancel one surgery in all the time he has done this surgery due to liver issues. He says he puts an extra unneeded burden on his patients so he and his other doctors in his group do not require or want us to do that diet. I would not overly stress yourself out, I am positive you are fine. I ate light but I ate until the night before surgery, no liquid diet ever. I just chose to eat lighter just because I was already in the process of changing my eating habits but I certainly ate normal food and had no problems. The heavier you are the greater the chance of there being an issue with your liver, but even then my doctor said it is still a rare complication that will impact your chance for surgery. So breathe and enjoy this time before your surgery.
Ellie_Grace 271 Posted October 8, 2012 Clarification I did have a liquid diet post-op but not pre-op. I hated it by the way, but I am thinking no one really enjoyed that stage. lol
