I love, love, love reading all of everyone's posts. I'm kinda new to the board stuff though and haven't learned all the lingo. Could someone please tell me what NSV means? I'm assuming it's something good.

BTW, I got my "self-pay packet" from Dr. Ponce's office today and as soon as I fax it in, I can schedule my surgery date. I am so excited.

You guys are an awesome inspiration and a great source of REAL information (as well as some just for fun info). You can't live without that. Reading all these hilarious posts reminds me of my best friends and how we laugh so hard together that we wet our pants!

NSV means non-scale victory. ie fitting into a new size of clothing or someone making a remark about how you look. seeing yourself in a mirror and thinking it's someone else. being able to fit into the airplane seatbelts without an extender for the first time..

Edistogirl, good luck with your scheduling!

My favorite NSV was being able to see my whole body in one panel of my bathroom medicine-chest mirror. It's a cabinet with three mirrored doors and I could never see my whole body either side to side or front to back in one panel.

Now I can, and considering the room left over I'm blown away by how big I was! (I never took measurements "before"--too scary.)

Unfortunately I am familiar with "Depends." I'm hoping some of that will go away when I get skinnier.

Hopefully I will have a date for surgery sometime this week. Yeah!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
