Kerri1503 48 Posted October 6, 2012 Ok I know it's not pleasant to talk about, but I need help. I had surgery on Wednesday and I had my first bm yesterday. It was loose and have had a several since. I'm not feeling bad and having no pain besides tolerable pain when standing up. I'm wondering if this is normal. I am drinking more today and drinking G2 for replacement Fluid.< /p>

jennamommy 80 Posted October 6, 2012 I had the worst runs from day 5 until day 12 had to get hydrated twice in the Er. It is very normal just make sure you are sipping. dehydration is no fun.

LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted October 7, 2012 very loose bms that first week. Remember also you're only taking in liquids and nothing with enough Fiber or carbs to bind things up. It's going to be loose for a while until you're on more solid foods. I know once I was into the 5th stage level of eating...meaning all solids including fruit and veggies....things were more normal so to speak.
Kerri1503 48 Posted October 7, 2012 Yeah. I'm doing much better now and making sure I'm drinking more that I was.

I have lost 8lbs since surgery, but I have not had a problem keeping things down so I think that has something to do with it.
BBdoodle 483 Posted October 8, 2012 You are doing fine and having a BM early is good. I did not have one for 6 days after surgery. But you have to remember you are not eating so since nothing is going in then nothing will be coming out. Before surgery I had to clean out my bowels with a laxative and my first BM was hard and difficult. Then after a couple weeks I started going daily. You will notice a change since the food you are putting in is way different that what you are use to eating.
Kerri1503 48 Posted October 8, 2012 Yeah. I think everything has evened out. Maybe going once or twice a day now. I'm doing pretty good all the way around. Feeling great, drove my lil man to school this morning with no problems. Can't wait until I can exercise, but that will be a while I guess.
