New To The Forum Almost 4 Weeks Post-Op

Recommended Posts

Hello All! It is great to be on here and i have been reading a lot of your stories. They are very inspiring.

I will be 4 weeks post-op on Monday. I was 256.5 the day of surgery and now as of yesterday I was 234. I never got a goal weight from my doctor but I had the surgery mainly because I have had many knee surgeries and now my ACL is failing for the 4th time and I always hurt. I am 5'10 and I have felt my best at 135. So I guess I have 99 lbs to go. I could use interaction with people as I am getting sad and lonesome even with family around because they really don't understand. They are great but as I drop weight they don't see how its not always easy to say no to food that will make me sick. They do see the changes and they are excited for that. I would love to converse with you all. Send me a private message or whatever. Good luck to you all and keep up the awesome work!

Welcome and good luck on your Journy.

Always remember their are a lot of very smart people on this Fourm that have been every successful with WLS. But we are no replacement for your doctors advice.

Hope we can help you get through the day to day pains and joys of WLS. And look forward to your contributing to this Fourm . We all need help now and then even if it's just to blow of steam.

Again good luck on your Journy you

Check out the September member thread. It's for all of us that had surgery in September. We are all going through the same things around the same times....

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
