I was just wondering if anyone else tested positive for this? I got the call this am that I tested positive for hpylori and everything else looked good for blood work. I'm just wondering what is this anyways? I have no problems with my stomach or acid reflex and I was told most people don't even know they have it. Anyways have to take 2 weeks worth of antibiotics and usually when taking antibiotics (the last time I took them anyways) I get super bad yeast infection (sorry if tmi!) So I just hope these don't cause that! Anyways anyone can give me more info would be great thanks!

H Pylori is a stomach infection (bacteria in stomach) lots of people have it and don't even know it. As soon as you start your antibiotics start eating yogurt right away that will prevent the yeast infection.

you might also ask your Doc for the pill that treats yeast infections. I get them too with antibiotics and I ask for a script for the yeast med at the same time. don't wait till it is to out of control. and yes yogurt would be good too.

Yeah its A LOT of antibiotics I have to take 2 different kinds plus an acid reducer. I just have to wait for the 2nd antibiotic to be approved by my insurance otherwise I have to pay couple hundred $$ out my pocket which I don't have! But I was wondering after being treated does it come back? Cause I won't have my surgery until febuary or march so if I take the meds by the end of this month do I have high chance of it coming back as positive on blood work?

Mine wasn't separate. Both antibiotics and chewable peptides bismol came in a box in like a kit.

Well some might do a test to see if its gone but my surgeon doesn't. If you haven't got any of the medicine yet. Check with pharmacy if your insurance covers the helidac and if so call doc and get him to give you a prescription for that. Explain how much they want for the other he had prescribed

I too was tested and positive for HPylori. My boss is a pharmacist and I spoke to him about it and the medications. He said testing positive was a good thing , that way you can be treated for the bacteria (H pylori) which is the bacterial that causes ulcers. So, in short, we will be treated for the bacteria and never have to worry about ulcers !!! YEAH !!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
