Dr. Spivak's patients .....

Recommended Posts

I asked this same question when I got my second fill today. They actually retract what is left in the band before they start the new fill. For example my first fill was 1.5 and there was only .3 left. Today they zapped me with 2.5 of the fluro (sp?) and I am hoping it does the trick. :-)

:bump: Giving this thread a bump to see how everyone is doing. I am doing ok after 2nd fill. Wouldn't call it the "sweet spot"... but I do have some restriction. Hope everyone is doing well.

hi tx kimmie

i just had my first fill yesterday. dr spivak actually thought i didnt need it (he was probably right) so we agreed upon a small fill. i started to get hungry and gained 4 lbs. which is why i wanted it.

i couldnt eat for about 8 wks after surgery. i just started eating over memorial day. i still cant eat meat.

so i'm a little tighter but not as bad as when i first had surgery. i caused my earlier problems by not eating slowly or small bites

i also started to increase exercise......

Hey, do you guys know if Dr. Spivak is using that new AP Band I've seen people talking about? I asked his support group director and she said he is using a new band but she wasn't sure if it was that one.

does anyone know what days Dr Spivak does fills? A newer person (not Brenda) did my fill last time and I could tell she's not been doing this a long time. I'd prefer to go to someone with more experience

hi mcgreen,

he did mine on a thursday. he told me all you have to do is ask for him. (they wont volunteer)

he said he likes doing it.

so i'm only going to him because i read another story where the new person was not great at doing it

i'm a baby with needles

mcgreen, i'm not sure of her name.. can't remember.. she did my last 2 fills...she is new to his office but not new to the field. I think she is still in the phase of learning his patients.

I just found a way to pay for the surgery and after reading all the postings about how great Dr. Spivak is I have made an appointment to see him in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to have the surgery and I feel like it has taken forever to just get here, but I am so happy it has finally come.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
