I am 8 days post op and have started a very heavy menstral cycle. This is my 5th day and its not easing up whatsoever. I have no energy at all and dizziness. I was anemic post up and was warned that i would need blood following surgery. They tested me before discharge and my levels were fine @ 10. I am wondering if i am low because of my heavy cycle? I feel like i just cant get myself together.. Could barely type this post.

Are you on Iron? I'm also haveing a very heavy cycle this month, I was even in the ER last week. They gave me an IV and sent me on my way with birth control pills to stop the bleeding. I didn't take them because my sergery is on the 15th of Oct. and birthcontrol pills can cause blood clotting, I don't want to take the risk. I've been on this cycle for three weeks now, but it seams as if it's slowing down now. You may want to take your supliments and get to some IV liquds in. I was taking fish oils and was told to stop because they can cause bleeding as well.

I had surgery on 8/10 and my first cycle after surgery was excruciating, I've never had cramps so bad. I hope this is not what I will have to look foward to each month.

Yes, I was already anemic before surgery. They had even planned to give me blood during surgery if I didn't get my Iron up over the weekend. I did. This is the heaviest bleeding I've done in my life! I don't have any post surgery pain. Just period pain and weakness. I'm going to get my levels checked in the morning.

My surgery was on Monday and my cycle started yesterday as scheduled (I keep track with an app). So far mine has been pretty normal to possibly a little lighter then normal. Normally my first 2-3 days are really heavy.

Check with your doctor!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
