I am a new member. My special date is November 2nd and I can not be more excited. I am trying to get ready the best I can. I go in on October 16th to get done everything I need to before the big day. Does anyone have any good advice to help me for the few weeks before and after?

Stay relaxed, do not worry you will do awesome. stay with the program before and after, nothing taste as good as being thin feels. I am a size 10 now down from a 18/20 and it felels good. I think if I get to a size 8 I will be happy, but I have to say a 10 is not bad after years and years of being an 18/20. I will keep you in my prayers and hope to hear more from you later.

If you have any concerns or questions ... post them here, this is a support group where you get great information from people and support. The whole surgery expierence is a bit different for everyone, some of us had no problems and some did. My best advise is to listen to your surgeon and do exactly as they say and you will be fine. It is the best thing I ever did and would do it again in a second. We all had our bumps in the road but still worth it !!! Good luck and don't be afriad to ask questions !!!

Hi and good luck. I have found research and this board has helped me tremendously. I've never had surgery so it has helped with the anxiety.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
