therealjennygreen 3 Posted October 9, 2012 How long was your soft food stage? I am almost two weeks out and my dr started me on mushy puréed food as soon as I got home from surgery. According to his diet I can start solids after my second week, which seems different than most plans I have seen. Is anyone else's diet similar?
EmpressLizBunny 18 Posted October 9, 2012 Be carful with the Peanut Butter it tends to be high fat and high carb both thing that can possibly cause dumping syndrome

How are you doing on your puréed food. I feel sick each time I eat.
therealjennygreen 3 Posted October 10, 2012 At first it was a little rough. I stuck to broth and pudding despite him telling me I could eat other things. Jello was extremely hard for me, i threw it up anytime i Attempted to eat it. After a week I started mashed potatoes, turkey chili (puréed thinly), and eggs. Eggs have been kinda difficult to digest, but nothing has hurt when I eat it. I just found it odd that I could go back to normal foods after two weeks. Normal being chicken, tuna, cheese, etc. Every other diet I see, it says to wait 4 to 6 weeks after surgery for that. Occasionally I will take too big of a drink and it feels like I swallowed a golf ball lol.

change4ever12 1 Posted October 14, 2012 Hi, I agree with you regarding finding it strange to be able to eat so soon after major surgery like this. I'm 12 days out, my doc says only Protein Shakes for 2 weeks. Just shakes, nothing else! Then soft foods. I'm at the point that I can't stand them, starting to feel hungry so I tried Soup, egg salad and I had no problem. I hear others can't even drink 1 shake so soon after surgery. Makes me want to think there's something wrong.
Shrinking Don 365 Posted October 14, 2012 i was on full liquids for 2 weeks post op then moved to soft or pureed foods for the next 6 weeks at wk 8 which will be this wednesday i can move to whatever my pouch will tolerate
dfwtxfemme 3 Posted October 18, 2012 I mean my first thought I am pre surgery right now but my first thought would be to follow the liquid diet as told and then just eat baby food . And then you can't taste anything for you want can't you.... havent asked the doctor about this but it seems logical to me if you're supposed to eat soft foods to just eat baby food and already portion n small jars
