Hi :)

I was wondering if anyone knows how long we have to wear our binders for?

Monday I will be 2 weeks post op. My husband thinks it may be the cause of my pain sense I've had so many laporscopic surgery's in the past and never had pain like this. Thanks for your help :)

Silly lady!! You are allowed to take it off once you leave the hospital!!

A binder is a large elastic band with Velcro on the ends that you put around your mid section. It really helps after sugery. But, when does it stop helping?

Does anyone know if its suppose to help with hernias? I tend to bea very prone to getting them!

When I asked my DR. I was just told some people wear them for months.

I never wore a binder after surgery. My husband had hernia surgery and he wore one for 2 days. Call your dr. They should be able to tell you.

A nurse put one on me a few hours after and mysurgeon got very upset. You shouldn't need one this long if your surgery was not open. They can also keep you from taking deep enough breaths.

Didn't have to wear a binder here either.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
