Just remember you're healing inside and out....there is a reason for the liquid and you're doing great! Let them eat pizza and whatever else it is. It doesn't mean you'll never be able to have it again....it will come in time but, for now you're doing what's best for you! :)

I know it's not always easy....and we can't expect the people around us to stop their normal routine...we can only go along with it knowing we made the right decision and we're getting healthier.

You can do it girl! We're here for you!

I'm 3days post op and I'm having trouble with this today. I feel hungry which i didn't expect! and i have to feed my 4 children. being stuck home all weekend since I'm not supposed to drive I've been trying to cook half way decent for my children and then leave the kitchen before i want it! Commercials on TV are getting to me too. Guess i can't wait for stage 4! Been researching fast food menus all day so know what if anything i can eat once I'm off this liquid diet... I'm very busy being a single mom they get fast good at least once a week. Still trying to break away from that too.

Maybe make your kiddos something you don't find appealing? Just a thought...Wishing you good luck, lots of will power, and tons of car commercials!!

I stocked the house with everything they like and i don't along with most of the foods i can eat on a liquid diet but after the first day home its all appealing to me! I'll be glad when they go to school on Monday and i only have to make one meal a day for them. Bad as that sounds i won't be so tempted!

Don't even think about feeling bad for that!! My surgery isn't until Friday, but I know how it is to count down til the kids go to school!

I completely empathize with you! I have posted a similar thread on here regarding not being able to eat. This is miserable but we have to tell ourselves it won't be this way forever. Im trying to stay super focused. I pray you are as well! We CAN do this!

You are really dealing with a lot right now, it is hard to take the time for yourself to heal and concentrate on yourself with four children to fix meals for. I hope it gets easier. Sending you positive thoughts and gentle hugs.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
