I haven't had surgery yet but what I have read in here everyone is different in here. I've read where some has lost 100 pounds in a few months and some only 40 in same time frame. I have read the heavier you are the more you lose at first and everyone seems to have stalls where they don't lose any for a few weeks

If your a bigger person according to my surgeon you drop weight fast. If your smaller you drop but not as fast. A person 300 might drop 100 in a month & a person 200 might drop 40/50 in a month or even less. I'm almost 4 months & I drop almost 65 I think but I was 211 after diet 197 so it didn't come off fast as if I was much heavier. But I'm very sexy now lmbo

Every one is different don't push it it will come off.

Just one pices of advice only weigh your self 1 time a week pick a day.

If not you will drive your self nuts everyday when you don't see a loss.

Don't starve your self puting your body into starvation mode will not help.

In the beginning you will find it hard to get you Protein in. Just do your best

And the weight will come off

Good luck

poke around the website and you'll get lots of information. Everyone's journey before and after surgery is different. We even have different nutritional rules to follow but, basically all the same in the end after healing. Good luck with your process.

Oh and insurance has alot to do with the length of time from the start of looking into RNY and the actual surgery date.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
