So I'm going home to pack my hospital bag tonight for Wednesday. So far my coordinator says to bring a clothes to wear home, toothbrush, undies, slippers (optional), house robe (optional). From reading forums, I know lip balm is a must and of course my ID and insurance card. Is there anything else I should bring?

charger for your cell phone or any other electronic you might be bringing. if you have a favorite pillow you just can't sleep without bring it with a bright pillowcase on it, you can also use this on the ride home to hold against your tummy. Other than that I think you have got it. We really don't need as much as we think we do. Hope the weekend goes fast and you enjoy every second of it. Hugs to you.

Sending you the very best wis hes for a continued recovery and hoping the gas is gone for all of you soon. I dread that part a lot. I remember having it something awful after one of my sons was born (c-section) it was so painful.

Thanks Vicki! I was thinking of bringing my Nook with all the waking and walking and plus to be able to talk with you all since hubby's taking my phone to help "promote" recovery & rest since my family will call, call, & call some more. :) the hospital gives us a cute purple pillow with a stomach pic on it to go against our tummy. I dont have a fav pillow but I may take a Teddy Bear my husband gave me to calm my nerves. :) Hugs back at you!

Yes I had my nook packed too. Even had hubby put a few books on it. But I figured I would have used it like a mini lap top. Just don't forget your charger.

Getting pretty nervous! surgery in 5 days (14th). Trying not to talk myself out of this. Anyone else have doubts before surgery? I know I'm just scared.

I do but I know I'm psyching myself out I just keep thinking its this or a life filled with food and illness and that keeps me pushing towards the losers bench hang in there

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
