Worm,

My surgery wasn't delayed. I hope it isn't. I just want to find out if they'll postpone it for my levels.

Peach... I'm in the same boat... had call from my primary this morning and I have to go back on Wednesday to have my blood work redone.... kind of scary!!!

I hope they don't delay me. The nurse didn't seem to think so when they were taking my blood. She just said that I may have to take higher doses of Iron. I just want to find out what my surgeon says... Fingers Crossed for us!

I am finally home from the hospital. I had starvation ketoacidosis. I had my first purred dinner at home. Smashed banana and cottage cheese. I need potassium in me. And sugar and carbs. Lol.

Honestly I would be more then pissed . How could you know someone has surgery and don't handle your end serious that's bull sh!t I'm upset for you. However the 20th is a Good day as well it's my hubby s birthday. You and him will share something him and I will never I'm just joking around. Did they tell you you need to continue with your pre op diet for the week or start fresh. Remember everything happens for a reason sometimes we don't know why at the time and find out later and sometimes we never find out. Hold the faith your almost there

Lol. Well hopefully I'll be posting a happy birthday wish for your hubby from my recovery room. And you know, I can't even be mad at the dr office. It's the Aetna nurse/case worker that's slacking. I'm more upset that my friends/family made arrangements so they could be here for me and now this.

I'll start fresh next Sunday with the pre-op diet. I grubbed tonight! My sister said a similar thing. God has intervened for a reason. I have to accept that. One more week. :)

Hello to all my November surgery family...Hope all is well for any of our members that had surgery today and good luck to the very large group going in tomorrow. Tomorrow also marks my one day liquid diet the day b4 surgery. It still all seems so unreal so I havent had time to digest any emotions just yet, Im in disbelief I guess...Tomorrow, being on this liquid will definitely snap me back into it I guess. Good vibes to everyone, whether you've already passed the test, waiting to take it or still deciding, much success to all!!!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
