So I went to the surgeon today and he set my surgery for November 13. It seems surreal. I have the diet completed and all of the appt.'s for psych eval, nutritionist and class for preop scheduled for this Wed. That seems so fast.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh the millions of appts.....I managed to fit all of mine in the first month. Luckily my Insurance company had no pre requisites that I had to do which was awesome, besides have had 6 months or more of weight loss attempts which my PCP had documented over the years. I was approved by July but had a cruise in September that I did not want to be writhing in pain on so I put it off. But I had to see my surgeon every 30 days and not gain any weight which was so stressful but I made it. Hang in there, it will be overt before you know it.

I had my 2nd set of appts. I was told that I have diabetes and I am anemic. But the up side is that I lost 4 lbs!

Just got sleep study, appt with cardiologist, and one more with surgeon to go. The attentive date is Dec 4. Now it is becoming real. Everything else looks real good and it is moving along well.

There is a lot but it feels so good to check some of these apts off your list. And you are getting a really good check up during the process. Waiting is hard. But it is easier when you feel like you are actually doing something

to help the process, like the apts, the nutritionist, and losing a few pounds. You are doing great and everything will fall into place. Big Hugs to you.

first off.. congrats to everyone that has gotten their dates or has already had their date. I am just in the very beginning of my journey. I have spoken to my primary care doc and got my referral. my appointment for the seminar is on the 16th this month. I have been trying to get ideas of what my journey is going to consist of. I have been reading peoples stories and seems like there is alot to do, and some have had extra steps that some have not had to do. I had gotten a workbook from the library that has given me an idea of what I need to be doing but have been confused after reading some forums. best of luck to everyone

When I went to my first seminar, I had to take insurance cards, 5 yrs of medical history, doctor's referral letter, 6 month diet history, and the 5 pages of registration forms. It seems pretty standard for them to request the insurance and doctor information. Looking forward to following your journey story.

oh my goodness. all that just for a free seminar on it. I was only told the insurance card and doc name and number. It seems as though it's depending on who the doc is and who you have for insurance that is determining what requirements are needed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
