NurseTAB 65 Posted September 28, 2012 As long as your stool isn't a bright red I wouldn't be emergency room ready but it is something ya might wanna run by your surgeon if this is something new, if its right after surgery it might be just normal from blood entering your bowels when they moved stuff around. Whatever your comfortable with Hun.
roxyraquel 77 Posted September 30, 2012 I called my doc to make sure and he said it was normal better safe then sorry 1 sunshine413 reacted to this
LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted September 30, 2012 I was going to say mine was pretty dark. I also had to take Colace the first few weeks. Never TMI in this place to me. Heck we all go through some weird stuff and it helps to know it's "normal" with this surgery. OH I was bruised for weeks after all those heprin shots. They did two in my stomach and I finally asked them to give it to me in my arms instead. I had 4-5 bruises on my arms that lasted at least a month!
sbsmith 29 Posted September 30, 2012 Today i had my first bm too. Mine is watery and practically clear! I feel like the bowel prep is still coming out..... Shots in the stomach i got those too with some lovely buses that went with them.
sunshine413 343 Posted September 30, 2012 Omg!! Does every dr order those shots?!? Talk about cringe-worthy!!!
LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted September 30, 2012 Actually just about anyone who has surgery ends up with those shots. They don't want clots to form due to no activity so they give them to you. Only while in the hospital and the needle is pretty small. They don't really hurt...at least for me the didn't you just get sick of having to have them. mommaof4zs 3 Posted September 30, 2012 I haven't had my first bm yet (surgery 9/24) but I sure have the bruises:) they shouldn't be giving them to you in the stomach, you've had enough trauma there. The best place I was told was your upper thigh. I have to do them at home once a day for 7 days so I'm sure I will be bruised for a while. My legs look horrible, but I wouldn't want my arms being bruised b.c then everyone else can see them.
luvlife 43 Posted September 30, 2012 The dark stool is probably from blood from the surgery. It is ok to ask the doc just to make sure, but I think that is pretty normal. surgeversary 7/24/12, highest weight 267, surgery weight 262, current weight
nikkiba75 276 Posted September 30, 2012 My first BM was in the hospital and it was black and greasy looking The nurses didn't say anything and they checked every bm and my urine so I think you're ok Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
