My first fill didn't do too much, but everyone is different. You look like you are continueing to lose without a being filled so maybe it will work for you. The 2nd one for me really got me going...

Good Luck!

My first fill didn't really do much (I had 1.2 cc in a 4 cc band). I've had 3 fills since then in small increments, the most being .4 cc. I didn't start feeling good restriction until my last fill and I could still use some more fill to reach my sweet spot. It seems to be different for everyone. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

My early fills actually all made quite a difference, I'd get about a 3 week window where I'd lose quite a lot of weight. My last two have been since my weight loss really slowed down and surprisingly, although they've taken me over 3ml in my 4ml band, they've made little difference. But I just dont know whether I want another or where I am weight wise is good enough - I'm still losing, but only about 2lb a month. Still I'll be at goal in 6 months at that rate.

So really, moral of the story is everyone's different.

Fills are what let the band do what it was designed to do: restrict you. Once you get your initial fill, you'll be able to gauge when you need the next one. Fills have to be incremental and done gradually, so patience is the key. Let the fill technician decide how much to give you. I was initially frustrated that my first 3 fills didn't have the effect of truly restricting me, but fills 4 and 5 did the job and now I believe I am at or near my sweet spot. The term "sweet spot" very nicely describes the condition because it is so SWEET to not want to devour every morsel of food in sight! My entire life I was haunted by food and I fantasized about the next opportunity to eat; the band has helped me keep those demons at bay. Enjoy the experience; the benefits are truly amazing.

My first and second fill didn't do much and I was sooo guilty about my eating. The third fill has been perfect! I shouldn't have felt guilty...just slightly impatient! The band really works when it's working! My jeans are falling off!

BUT I don't think I would have been rpepared for a working fill my first time. I needed to practice, try to experience sensations, etc. Even though it felt like an eternity passing, for me, it was probably just about the right timing for me to get accustomed to my new life.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
