***slave To The Scale***

Recommended Posts

I have weighed my self almost everyday since I started the entire process back in January. I have always felt that if I get on the scale it helps keep me accountable. What I have now realized is that I have become a slave to the scale. My only motivation was seeing those numbers go down. I finally had a nervous break down over it this week. I have decicided to no longer runt my life around the scale.... There is so much more to health then numbers on a scale. I have to determine in my mind that know matter what the numbers say I want to optimism maximum health. So for the first time in a very long time I will only be weighing my self once a week. That way I can focus on me as a whole and not just a number. I also fill that I will have more peace of mind.

Oh I am a scale slave too !!! I like to weigh myself daily, it keeps me in check. I do not stress over the numbers. I do get disapointed but that only pushes me to go that extra mile or increase the intensity or not have a extra bite of something. You are so correct in the fact that you are looking at the whole picture and not just the number. My scale has not moved but only a couple of pounds in weeks !! I still stay strong, and I know it will move again soon - - - - I just don't get obsessed with the number and yes there is a whole lot more to health than the scale number !!! you are so right !!!

Maybe do a measurement diary once or twic a month because you know that even though the scam isn't showing lose. The inches are coming off. Right Jen.

I step on the scale daily as well but, I do it keeping in mind I KNOW there will be fluctuations up and down by anywhere between 1 and 3 pounds. It all depends how much your drank or what you ate the day before. I keep in mind that I don't move myself down in weight until I've seen that weight on the scale for several days stay the same or go below it. It's all a head game with the scale. Just know that if you're following the diet and exercise plan your doc recommends it will come off :)

For me it keeps me in check...if it goes up, even knowing it won't stay...I will be extra sure to take in all my Water and to watch my Protein. If it stays up....cut back the carbs and/or rev up the exercise and it gets back to where it was.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
