I know that every insurance company is different, but does anyone know about how long after you've done everything does it take to get an answer

Great on the weight loss already. You are getting mentally prepared maybe. Your mind is connecting to this new lifestyle you have chosen and you are wanting to make good choices. I have lost 15 pounds since I started seeking the revision from band to rny, because I am thinking about it and conscious of it everyday and starting to think more about eating for nutrition instead of for fun, And I know the more I loss the better I will do during the surgery and healing process.

tmorgan, I got a lot of my Vitamins at the pharmacies when they had them on sale. My RiteAid had them buy one get one free or 1/2 off for most of mine. I had to go online to buy my Calcium Citrate because most stores don't carry the citrate kind. Basically you have to price around because all brands and stores have different prices. You can catch them on sales though.

Sounds like you got your approval already but, most insurances give an answer within 48 hours of receiving all the documentation from your surgeon.

As far as personal trainers....I don't think that's even considered as part of your process for insurance approval. They want to know your physical history, how you'll benefit from the surgery, if you're physically able and strong for the surgery, your PCP's opinion and consent to medically release you for surgery and your surgeons plan on how they will do the surgery and what will be used etc. Many want a supervised diet and weightloss to happen for 3-6 months, some a year and yet others don't require it. Each insurance has their own requirements so it's pretty tricky but, your doctor's team will know what they need. Again...sounds like you already have your approval so that's great!

Hope this helped. Good luck with your surgery. When's your date?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
