Hungry on mushies after a fill...

Recommended Posts

I just had another fill and they said that I'm very tight right now. However, I'm not feeling any difference with the soft foods. In fact, I'm pretty hungry. Does everyone else feel that way on the soft foods? I haven't had any solid food yet.

I'm glad you ask that. How much was your fill? My fill was only 1cc and I am eating the same amount I was eating before. I slim alot more though but I am still hungry and I stuff myself like before. What is going on?

I have a fill of 2.3 right now, but they only added .2 this last time. I'm making myself stay away from mushies and now I can really tell that I'm tighter. I was concerned because I expected to feel tighter with the softer food, too.

From your note, it appears that this might be your first fill. If so, it takes most people 2 or 3 fills to feel tight enough. I'd go ahead and schedule another fill and then cancel it if you don't need it. I find that if I wait to schedule a fill, it takes a couple of weeks to get in.

Mushies slip easily through the band, so you may feel hungry soon after. Are you allowed solid foods? My doctor discourages soft foods because of the fact that they don't stay long in the pouch and you will eat more and thus gain weight.

So, Angie, you're ok with your fill, now? I was going to say that the reason for the mushies is because your got your band/tummy roughed up and it has to "heal" for a few days. Don't rough is up more by putting solids in there too soon. I would say, eat less more often. The weight loss will come.

Kaboom, if you are still eating the same as before but sliming, I would say that you are NOT chewing well enough or taking your time. The sliming happens when your body is trying to flush something through. DO NOT STUFF YOURSELF ! Slow down. Give your fill a chance to kick in (sometimes as mush as two weeks). It has only been 3 days.

Thanks Randy! It does make sense.

Angie O thanks for note. I wasn't sure if that's how people got to the 2 or 3's. I was sort of disappointed that I only got 1cc. But now I know it takes a couple more. I'm on liquids I guess. I ate normal the first 3 days and was pb'ing alot so now I decided to follow my doctor's orders :guess hehehe and actually do the liquid diet for a week.

But I'm just sooooo hungry!:hungry:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
