Sleeping Port-side?

Recommended Posts

Good Morning friends!

I'm a little over 3 months post-op and for the last week or so my port area has been really sore. I keep feeling to make sure the discomfort is around my port and not the band itself. I've been fairly good at not eating over a half cup at a time so i don't think i could have expanded my pouch. but i have been much more comfortable at night sleeping on my left side/stomach area. i wonder if I should still not be sleeping too much on the port.

Can you stretch out your pouch with over drinking? I have noticed that I still gulp lots of Water. I think my brain is going wild with thoughts that I broke something.

I know I should call the surgical center and ask but I still owe them a balance and don't want to be transfered to billing!! =)

Even after all these years with the band, sometimes it hurts if I lay on it all night, although it's not as sensitive as it used to be. I don't think you can actually cause any harm by laying on it though!

As for the drinking Water issue, I don't think that drinking non-carbonated liquids would pose a danger since it can drain though the opening of the band. Ask your doctor if you're worried, but I dont' see any reason for alarm myself. :)

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
