Hello all. I've been lurking for a month or so and have finally decided to join. I am origionally from the Pittsburgh Pa.area buut for the last 7 years have lived in

Sweden. I am 47, been married to a wonderful Swedish woman for 16 years and have to daughters 13 and 11 years old with another girl due onthe 10th of October.

I have surgery on the 10 of Sept. but began my pre surgery diet on Aug. 6th. I did the cambridge shakes for 5 weeks and am now 2 weeks a 3 days post op.

My starting weight on Aug 6 was a svelt 354 and this morning I was down to 294 so 60 lbs in the last 7 weeks. 22 of that since surgery. It has not been easy

I at all to be honest, the 5 weeks of liquid was total hell for me. See I am a professional chef, nd nt to toot me own horn but a really good one. For those fellow Pittsburghers

out the think Stone Mansion, or Tin Angel , and Im the head ched at a hotel here so the bags were tough. I got thru it an now I'm not hungry. I have to say I took a lot

of insperation and knowlege from this forum and I will continue to, also I will contrubite when I have something worth saying.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
