I'm 4 weeks post op with continued piercing/burning left side pain =[

I'm trying to work through it/stretch but I'm so ready to be pain free and full of energy. I had to quit smoking 6 weeks ago as my surgeon refuses to do surgery on a smoker....given that, I should feel awesome.....soon...right?

I had a sharp stabbing pain on the left side, my dr said its completely normal and even showed me the huge tool that was inserted thru the incision so it made sense, mine stopped hurting at about 5 weeks post op, but didn't start til about 2.5 weeks post op. pain meds helped so much! Dont be scared to use them if u need them.

I saw my surgeon 2 weeks ago and see him again in 2 days. After describing my pain to him he told me that when doing my conversion, lap-band to RNY, I had not only a considerable amount of scar tissue, but my band had slipped a lot and I had a very involved hernia. He then explained given all that I had done the pain is to be expected. The most annoying part is that I feel like when I'm walking that I need to press on the spot and like hold it...I know sounds odd, but it's the only way I'm comfortable.

Further, my incisions are all healed and look great!

I don't have any problem at all taking the pain meds, in fact there are times when I've no choice to take them around the clock. Ive had a lot of surgeries, including 2 c-sections, a Tummy Tuck and breast lift...plus the lap band placement and laparoscopic gallbladder removal. This is a different pain, sharp and like a hot knife is being stuck into my middle/left. It went away last Friday, I was relieved when I got out of bed that it was gone, but them this morning, only 3 days later, it's back and just as bad.

Oh well, I'm sure it will subside as the person above said (sorry forgot name), but I'm seeing my surgeon in 2 days.

Thank you for you kind replys and words of help and support...very appreciated.

Kerrie-Ann

Mine was white and it was a little over a foot tall and it wrapped around my stomach and velcroed tight. Kinda like it was holding my insides together.

I should clarify. A little over a foot tall and 4 ft long. It was like a wrap for the stomach.
