If you have no communicaton with the drs office... their fault not yours, I personally wouldnt feel comfortable with them doing my surgery and the follow up care. After all you will have to be able to communicate with them after the surgery if only to answer questions. But on the downside if you change surgeons will you have to go thru the whole approval process again. May be you should call your insurance company in the morning and ask them. Good Luck girlie

I would call your insurance company and tell them that your not happy with the surgeons office and want to switch surgeons. See if they will cover everything and if you don't have to start all over. Good luck. Sorry to hear that your surgeons office sucks

Yeap if you switch surgeons, unless the one you switch to is within the same practice/bariatric center and hospital...you'll have to start the process all over again. I know I had too. Took me a year longer to have the surgery.

Hey cyn the best thing to do instead of starting all over go in and talk to them in person and when you see the surgeon tell him your grievances. Sometimes doctors don't know unless someone tells them if one of their staff members need reprimanded. If no one complains to him it can't be fixed

Your right about that I will talk to him, I will find his email cause I'm 3 and a half hours away from his office other than that I would have been up there but I'm just going ask him to call me

I had to switch surgeons after I had completed all of my pre-requisites due to my insurance company requirements. My new surgeon accepted all of my previous testing, psych eval, weight management records, etc. I only had to get updated bloodwork, see a different doctor to clear me medically, and do a sleep study (hadn't done this before). I saw the new surgeon in mid-June, got my insurance approval on the first try on August 8 and had my surgery September 10. My new surgeon and his staff are fantastic. It was a total blessing in disguise and I'm so happy I was forced to switch.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
