Need Your Opinions

Well here I am watching food shows when I start the puree'd stage tomorrow and my mouth is watering and I wonder if I can ever enjoy the same foods I ate before surgery. Burgers, Chinese food, Mexican, BBQ, pizza and fried foods...fries, potato chips, ....I know I need to eat the Protein first and I will limit the fried foods but if I want some chips or fries is that a HUGE issue? Just wondering what other folks are doing out there. Thanks!

I am post and used to enjoy all the same stuff but don't eat any of it. I have eaten a piece of baked lays chips and it was okay. You will be fine, and I'm sure if you ate the whole chip you'd be just fine.

All the luck tomorrow & stop watching the food network lol makes me head hungry too :)

seven months out and I have found its more of a head game in the beginning then anything. When I try a "bite" of something I used to eat that is not so good for me it either doesnt taste good or it hurts my pouch. You will test the waters to be sure, but be careful and use the tool as it is meant to be used. Eating our favorites is what got us in to trouble to begin with. Hang in there

Trying too, I'm two weeks post op and start purée tomorrow...I had a really good day today and hope it continues. Bad thing is I spent an hour reading threads on here of people who regret having surgery even month po. Not really encouraging. And also how people have leveled out a few weeks po.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
