anonemouse 1 Posted February 2, 2007 That is exactly what the process of getting approved by insurance feels like. I was posting on OH about all the problems I have had getting my crap to insurance, and it struck me that it really was sort-of funny in a stupid, morbid way. Here is what I was posting on OH in response to a question about how long the process takes: Well, I am still pre-op, but I can fill you in on how quickly things have moved for me. I went to the required seminar on November 4th, so I am coming up on 3 months. To be honest, everything would have gone faster, but I kept running into problems. You know the drill, one step forward, two steps back. I made my decision to have surgery, had to wait for appointments with all my docs to have them write letters to the surgeon. Did that, then had problems getting all my records sent to the surgeon. Got that done, then found out I had to get pulmonology clearance. Got the clearance, but they had the wrong fax number for the surgeon's office, so it took almost a month to get that to them. Finally had all my information together and all the clearances done and thought the surgeon's office had sent it to insurance, and then found out that the fax number the surgeon's office had for the insurance company was old and they never got anything. They FINALLY got all my stuff sent to insurance, and now I just found out that the surgeon I chose is out of network for me, so I have to get all my stuff sent to another surgeon and start the process of getting approved again. Hopefully, the new surgeon will accept all my clearances, so I won't have to do too much before my info gets sent to insurance again. :faint:
