Ways To Pass The Time?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any ideas on things I can do to keep busy for the next 6 months? I'm starting my first of 6 weigh in next week. I thought about making a list or recipes book of things to eat after surgery and to be more active on the forum.... that's all I got?

This month makes my 6th month. How I have filled up my time is by doing more things exercise wise. Like over the summer you could hardly get me out of the pool. Now that it is cooler I walk out in the back yard and took over push mowing the grass. My son and I went on a hike last week in the park was really nice. And I am starting to really understand my diet since I discovered my fitness pal so I am addicted to that and this forum

Exercise is a great way to stay busy but you can't do that ALL the time. I've found a lot of books online about wls and I'm sure you can find them at your bookstores like Barnes and Noble. I've also been staying really busy on this and another forum and myfitnesspal.com. I was told to start taking my meds now like I would after the surgery and start a high Protein low carb diet. I'm also staying more busy these days by doing more stuff rather than sitting around like cleaning more, organizing, taking my two year old to the park and out for walks. Immerse yourself in everything you can right now that has to do with wls. Learn as much as possible but remember to always go by what the doctor says. I didn't listen to the dietician and now I'm waiting on my appointment for another month because I didn't start losing my weight like I was instructed to do. I listened to some others that said it might be too early and to wait so I did. Now I have one month to lose 17 lbs to have my info submitted to insurance for my approval. Pinterest always has millions of things you could do on there if you like to cook or if you are crafty!! Good luck!!

Thanks for the ideas. It also helps that the holidays are coming up. I have 4 kids so that also helps.

Does my fitness pal have a wls forum too?

I love tracking everything on My Fitness Pal! It's a great tool! And even though I'm 6 years out, down 190 lbs. 10lbs above my goal, I still need all the tools I can get!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
