I Dont Know If This Is Really Bad Or Not

Recommended Posts

I'm on my first day of eating yogurt, sugar-free pudding, and cream of wheat/rice ( second week post-op). My instructions are to eat 3, 2 tablespoons to 1/4cup meals per day ( besides Water and stuff from the first week). Well, I did really well for the first two, eating cream of rice for the first two meals (eating slowly) but then for dinner I ate a whole Greek plain nonfat yogurt! Which was obviously more than 1/4 cup. Probably 1/2 cup or a full cup. I ate it over maybe 15 mins excpecting to eventually feel full at some point but I didn't! So, what do you think? (I had Rou-En-Y)

Believe it or not, so soon After surgery your stomach may not be healed enough to know when it's full. At this point you have to seriously measure everything you eat.

You'll be ok. Just be careful next time. Hey, at least you got some Protein in you!

Yup, your sensation to feel full hasn't shown up and yogurt is a slider.. Go slow and measure.. As Jen said.. At least you got some Protein in! Good luck!

Its real important to measure so you get a good visual on what that portion looks like. I bought a cheapo scale in Bed Bath and Beyond for like $20, and I measure everything, after a couple of months you can just eye the portions but at first its good to do EXACTLY what your doctor says, it take a long time to heal.

Thanks guys! Good advice! I feel better. I didn't know that my stomach may not be healed enough to know when it's full or not. Do you know about when it might be healed enough to know when it's full?

Everybody heals differently so it's tough to put a time line on when your pouch will start talking but rest assured it will. For now, measure everything you eat, and never eat less than two hours or more than four hours apart. Before you know it you'll be amazed at how little you can eat before feeling full!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
