I am a large gal, and I think I will probably have some loose skin issues. I was wondering what you guys do to help combat these issues. Do you wear compression clothes? Or ladies, do you wear Spanx? If you have loose skin, when did you start noticing it? Like when you reached goal, or after losing a large amount of weight in general? Just trying to think ahead and plan!

Exfoliate with sea salt scrub, lotion (good lotion without sulfates), exercise and water! Haven't heard about compression clothing though.

Anytime. I started noticing loose skin 4 weeks out. Not bad, but enough for me to notice. I lost 40 lbs in 42 days though. And I didn't start the skin care until after the 4 weeks. The faster it comes off the more lose skin you will have. It also depends on your age. But definitely keep your skin hydrated. Someone I know swears by bath and body works true blue super rich body cream (shear butter). Said her Dr recommended it and she has not had any loose skin - she lost over 100 lbs. But i am sure any will be good as long as it doesn't have sulfates.

Thank you for bringing this topic up! I will have a lot of loose skin too and am willing to try different things. In addition to exercise and Water, I'll definitely try some of the ideas listed here. I have 200+ pounds to lose and lose skin has been on my mind a lot lately. I'm over 40 and the youthful elacisticy I'm sorry to say is fading away.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
