My Surgery For 9/12 Was Unsucessful...i'm Sad.

Recommended Posts

I went to see my cardiologist on the 10th and he ordered a 24 hour holter monitor that they put on me and to draw bloods again because my cholesterol and diabetes was high. Then I saw my surgeon on the 11th. When he saw me he gave me a hug and kiss and said to me that he pulled me from heaven. I wanted to cry. He said I can do this. He's glad I lost more weight. He said he wants me to lose more weight and to come back within' 2-3 months. He said he wants me to fit and strong. He said to keep following up with the nutritionist and still follow the diet. He was on vacation last week at the Dominican Republic on a conference of the RNY with other surgeons around the world. He said he sat next to a top surgeon from Chile and he was telling a story of a patient he almost lost and the same thing that happened to me. He said he was thinking of me the whole time and know I wasn't the only one this happened to. But thank God he saved my life. Looking forward to start over again...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
