What Takes More Faith????

Recommended Posts

Wow, since did our faith in God turn into such a conversation?

The whole point of having faith is to please God not to provoke people.

We are not being a testimony to people who do not believe in God by turning it into a debate. It is supposed to be by a soft answer, that turns away wrath. Things just get out of hand.

That is just my humble opinion.

Is that the best you can do! That is the biggest cop out I ever heard. You are so transparent!

Guess what? It's a habit I did pick up from you! If you can say it and say that you didn't mean to be condescending, I can too.

Ron, you are the transparent one, and I think everyone here can see that. Whenever you don't have an intelligent response to someone, you claim that you are being attacked. It's very obvious. It's the old "poor me, I don't know what to say, so I'll try to deflect the attention to someone else" tactic.

Serious discussion about the faith is not taken kindly here, and soft answers are usually met with mocking and provoking! Kind of like when Jesus tried to discuss things of faith with the Pharisees and the money changers in the Temple. Paul said to be "all things to all people" and sometimes you need to respond to people in the only way that can comprehend.

I'll ditto that. Sometimes you DO need to respond to people in the way they understand. You'll understand then, Ron, why we all respond to you the way we do.

Really! Is that a fact! Then why don't you go back to the beginning of the thread and see where all this started???

I think you have it backward, and I am not going to waste any nmore of my time talking to walls about the same things over and over again. I was trying to point out the hypocricy here but there is no one to hear it.

Or maybe, they realize who the TRUE hypocrite is.

He did say be all things to all people, but that was to be a light to them. To be able to meet them where they are, not as "self righteous religous people" such as were the Pharesses. You are taking that scripture way out of context.

Jesus also didn't go seeking out the Pharisees to have religious debates. He just answered them or was showing them their "ignorance".

Serious discussion about the gospel is best kept with other believers.

If you bring these type of questions to people that don't even have the basics down, it is just a bad testimony because they don't understand where you are coming from or what your true motives are.

We are not to toss pearls...

We are to use our "walk" and if people see us as arguementative it gives a bad name to what Christ was trying to teach, love.

I see no love in this thread from the believer which is supposed to be you.

This is not the place for this. I think you are doing a diservice to our call. I think you have good intentions, but then you know what they say about good intentions.

I don't want to get drawn into this thread of going back and forth.

The question you have to ask yourself, is "am I helping or hindering".

I don't see any helping, just hindering.

I don't mean to attack you in any way, as I said, I think your intentions are pure, but I seriously do not think Jesus went around provoking people by being argumentative to argumentative people.

This is what I posted to you in another thread:

And yet, if the original criticism of you was unfounded, as you claimed, it isn't hypocrisy. If you intended no ill will with your original comments, it shouldn't bother you if those same comments are used against you.

also--why is this "faith" thing even brought up on this board? this is a board related to laparoscopic band surgery---perhaps ron, you should go elsewhere to have these discussions.

You are in the Rants and Raves forum, where anything goes. It is NEVER okay to tell people they should not post on any topic they like in R&R. Just a friendly heads-up.

Again, it doesn't bother me! I was making fun of the obvious double standard about them!

This is what I posted to you in another thread:

As I said, all the scientific talk is Greek to me and I don't care much about the details. There are always going to be scientists on both sides of the issue.
But the scientists who espouse evolution have no financial stake in evolution, while the scientists who espouse creationism or intelligent design are often paid by Christian Right organizations that need money from the poor box to grow and need to convince people that the Bible is literal to get them to contribute.

Ron has a right to post these topics in the Rant & Rave section.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
