Beth Texas 1 Posted September 14, 2012 Had rny as a revision from a vertical band. Surg was June 26. In August my pouch had completely scarred closed and I had to have emergency surgery. Then a stent and another stent and more emergency surgery. 2 endoscopies with dilation and I am finally free and finished! Question now is can I pick up and exercise - doctor says yes off handedly like of course. I am cautious though. Should I try walking only first? I belong to a gym or would do home DVD if anyone has thoughts please let me know. Foodwise I am eating chicken, Beans, edamame, soft food with Protein. I would love to know if you think 80-100 g of protein is really a better plan that the 60 g my doctor ecommends as minimum. Thanks for any advice. Beth. luvlife 43 Posted September 14, 2012 I would start off with walking. At least for a week or so, then if u feel good about it add something else. As far as Protein, I am not the person to ask. My doc has a different approach. He did not give me any requirements other than to eat only when I am hungry and have protein first. He used to count protein, but found that the weight loss is greater if u listen to your body instead if trying to force protein when u aren't hungry. In fact, he said no Protein Shakes. The only protein eaten should be naturally found in foods. Enough of me though. DLCoggin would be the person to ask about protein. He is the WLS guru:) 1 jadeharper reacted to this

However my doc didn't mention this at all I just came to it on my own, I couldn't give up on the communication between my body and I. I haven't had a Protein shake in a week! I'm now 4 weeks out with 65-90g of protein a day:)

PaulB 346 Posted September 15, 2012 My doctor says 60-100 g Protein a day RIGHT in the perfect world yes in my world 60g is pushing it. As far as exercise I was not allowed to do any ab work outs till I hit the 6 week mark and no heavy weight lifting. Your doctor knows what's best for you ask him/her. I start my morning with a Protein shake 35g then throughout the day eat light baby bels, string cheese, 2 oz rotisserie chicken, boiled egg.. Eat something with protein every 2 hours during the day and you will hit the magic number
