I take effexor capsules every day. My surgeon told me to just open the capsule & swallow the granules. My capsule is pretty big tho.

New Life Started 07/24/12

I wish mine were granules, but it's nasty powder. I did swallow the capsule this morning and it went ok. I held it in my mouth for a little while and could feel it a little bit after i swallowed it, but it wasn't terrible.

My doctor gave me Wellbutrin and I took it two weeks in. He said it was more important to keep it in my system. Did not affect my weight loss at all (269 to 194 since May 3rd). I think it helped because I didn't deal w depression.

I had to stay on all my meds, topamax, librium and ambien. when i was in the hospital for 6 days they were not giving them to me and at one point i told the RN your going to move me from this floor to the crazy floor if you dont get me my meds.. Topamax is a main mood stabilizer for me at 300mg and i have had to have them get it to me in 50mg pills and take it all day long. it really sucks. I do wonder how i will feel once more weight starts to come off as i am only 11 days post op

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
