I walk in a park near my home with my black lab. I'm up to three miles a day and I walk at least four to five times a week. No doubt in my mind that it increased my weight loss, reduced the time it took to lose the weight, and puts a smile on my lab's face every time! Love it!!

Lol! She is the best fur covered friend anyone could possibly ask for! She makes me laugh every day of the world. She's "only" 95 lbs but we've been walking since she was a puppy and she is an absolute dream on the leash. Labs are amazingly intelligent. I think the key is a short leash and using a prong collar when you walk, and only when you walk. The collar looks intimidating but it absolutely doesn't hurt her. Cesar Milan says that the prongs simulate her mom's teeth when she was a puppy and mom had to correct her. She wears her regular collar (red of course!) most of the time but when we're going for a walk, I put the prong collar on and she's like a machine - right by my side the whole time!! With a little practice and a little patience I bet your lab would be the same!!

I am definetly going to try that, I bought her a harness and it is great because my 14 yr old son does great with her as well as my husband. Honestly I think the problem is me because I do not like scolding her, I baby her and I am the one that she least listens to... She is my big girl, but then again I ama push over because my daschund and chihuahua also walk all over me! I know what you mean about making you laugh, the love I get from mine is definetly unconditional and the happiness they have when they see me is priceless! Here are my four legged best buddys!

Can't wait to get back into the gym. Doctor just let me start weight training this week. I want my body back I had 7 years ago befor the accident rueind my leg and I sat around and got fat. The gym keep it off.

That's no excuse I could have gotten back into the gym 5 years ago and used my right leg as a excuse not any more. Now if we could just gat a Planet fitness or a golds gym in my town. So the YMCA will have to do they just renovated their gym so will have to check it out Friday

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
